- In one of the scenes with the tenants having a party at Godai's room, Akemi and Yotsuya make references to the 1938 japanese movie called "Aizen Katsura" (A Flower in the Storm), about a young doctor (named Kozo Tsumura) who falls in love with a widowed nurse (named Katsue Takahashi).
