Trivia[]

  • In the scene Godai is tutoring Yagami on his room, on one of the walls there is a poster with the American pop singer Madonna.
  • This episode has several references to Urusei Yatsura, another anime based on a manga by Rumiko Takahashi:
    • Mitaka names his new puppy "McEnroe", after famous American former professional tennis player John McEnroe. This can be a nod to Urusei Yatsura where in Episode 17b ("Demonic Running"), Shūtarō Mendō (interestingly enough, voiced by seiyu Akira Kamiya, the same seiyu as Shun Mitaka) mentions that "They call him the McEnroe of Tomobiki high school".
    • In the scene where Godai and Yagami are at her house just before her parents arrive, she plays a cassette with "Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2", by Frédéric Chopin. This can be another nod to Urusei Yatsura, in where Shinobu Miyake (a character that looks very similar to Ibuki Yagami) plays that same piece a couple of times throughout the series.
    • In the scene where Kyōko is waiting for Godai to come back, there is a song being played on the TV. That song is called "Sweet Dream" by Kanako Narikiyo, a song in the Urusei Yatsura anime, used in the second OVA ("Memorial Album I'm Shū-chan").
