Love Forlorn! Today Is IT for Godai and Kyoko is the eighty-ninth episode of the Maison Ikkoku anime.

Synopsis[]

After the events of the last episode, Kyōko is angry at Godai for (in her opinion) kissing Kozue. Meanwhile Godai leaves the cabaret for good and returns to Maison Ikkoku. And Kozue explains to Godai about the proposal she received from a friend of hers. What will be Kozue's decision about the proposal? How is Godai going to explain to Kyōko about his kiss with Kozue?

  • In the scene where Godai is partying with the tenants at his room, there is a poster on one of the walls with the legend "Shell Oils" on it. That may be a reference to Shell, the British multinational oil and gas company.
  • At the beginning of the scene where Godai is talking to Kozue Nanao at the café, there is a store sign that says "Maris" on it. It could be a reference to the 1986 OVA "Maris the Chojo", based on a work by Rumiko Takahashi.
  • In the scene where Godai is talking to Kozue Nanao at the café, there is a background song. It is called "Mou Sukoshi Tooku" (A Little Farther Away) by Takao Kisugi.
  • This episode features the first kiss between Yūsaku Godai and Kyōko Otonashi in the anime.
